CNS presents 2nd Annual “Plant Your Flag” program and launches “Bright Spot” Virtual Series for Mental Health

Detroit, MI, April 25, 2022— CNS Healthcare will celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month 2022, with its Annual, “Plant Your Flag” campaign to show that mental health matters to our community and launching “Bright Spot” — weekly virtual presentations to address topics including kids’ anxiety, returning to in-person work, caregiver burnout, normalizing conversations about mental health, and more!

CNS Healthcare is encouraging staff, persons served, stakeholders, and the entire tri-county community to show its support of mental health awareness by displaying a yard sign decorated to reflect their own or a loved one’s mental health journey. “Everyone is looking for a sign that they are not alone and that everything will be OK,” said Michael Garrett, President & CEO. “These physical signs around CNS Healthcare offices and other public and private businesses and homes will send a strong signal to everyone that mental health matters, help is here and there is no shame or stigma in asking for it.”

Every CNS Healthcare office will display flags made by staff and persons served. Community participants are encouraged to display their signs to show pride in their accomplishments. We want everyone to celebrate recovery, sobriety, and asking for help while acknowledging that mental health matters.

The “Bright Spot” virtual presentations will launch with an introductory session on May 2nd 12:00 PM-12:30 PM (EST) via Facebook Live (@CNSMichigan) and will continue weekly on Mondays through May 23rd. Bright Spot will continue monthly on the second Monday of every month starting in June. Nancy Gandelot, CNS Healthcare’s Chief Marketing and Outreach Officer will host the show. Guests will include Kevin Fisher, NAMI Michigan CEO, Michele Reid, MD, Sarah Scantamburlo, PA, Jenny Shumaker, LMSW, and more.  Content will be also shared on the CNS Healthcare website. The series focuses on being a “Bright Spot” for others, and self. The community is encouraged to use the CNS Healthcare “Bright Spot” frame on their social media profiles as a show of support.

“Information matters, and it is our goal to bring resources to those who need, want, or could benefit from them,” said Nancy Gandelot. “These discussions will also help our on-going efforts to break down the mental health stigma and the barrier of talking about what impacts all of us.”

All participants are encouraged to take a picture of their sign and share it on their social media page(s) tagging @CNSMichigan with the #CNSHealthcareCares #MentalHealthMatters hashtags. People without social media can share pictures of their design by emailing communityoutreach@cnshealthcare.org. CNS Healthcare will pick their favorites and send the creators CNS Healthcare swag.

Sign kits can be delivered to locations within ten miles of any CNS Healthcare office by emailing: communityoutreach@cnshealthcare.org or calling 800-615-0411 to get yours. You may also pick up a kit at any CNS Healthcare office. Kits include CNS Healthcare branded yard signs, instruction sheet, decorating materials, and CNS Healthcare crisis and referral information.

The campaign runs April 25- May 31.
