May is Mental Health Awareness Month: CNS Healthcare presents third annual Plant Your Flag for Mental Health campaign

Detroit, MI, April 26, 2023 — CNS Healthcare is celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month by planting flags – and encouraging others to do the same – to show that mental health matters to our community.

The annual Plant Your Flag for mental health campaign is back for a third year. As part of the initiative, CNS Healthcare is encouraging staff, persons-served, stakeholders, and the entire community to show support for mental health awareness with a visual display of solidarity and awareness: a yard sign decorated to reflect their own or a loved one’s mental health journey.

Every CNS Healthcare office will display flags made by staff and persons-served. Community members are encouraged to display their signs in a place of pride – their yard, business, church, or school. Seeing signs outside every CNS office and other places in the community will show that no one is alone in their battle and it’s okay to ask for help.

“Everyone is looking for a sign that they are not alone and that everything will be OK,” said Michael Garrett, president & CEO. “These physical signs around CNS Healthcare offices and other public and private businesses and homes will send a strong signal to everyone that mental health matters, help is available and there is no shame or stigma in asking for it.”

All participants are encouraged to take a picture of their sign, share it on their social media page(s) with the hashtags #CNSHealthcareCares and #MentalHealthMatters, or tagging @CNSMichigan. Those without social media can share pictures of their design by emailing communityoutreach@cnshealthcare.org . CNS will pick their favorites and send the creators CNS Healthcare swag.

Sign kits can be mailed upon request, picked up at any CNS Healthcare office, or delivered within 10 miles of any CNS office (email communityoutreach@cnshealthcare.org or call 800-615-0411.) Kits include CNS Healthcare branded signs, instruction sheet, decorating materials and CNS Healthcare crisis and referral information.

The campaign runs from May 1-31. For more information, visit www.cnshealthcare.org.
