January 25, 2025

CNS Healthcare today announced two new leadership appointments.

Carlynn Nichols as Senior Director of Behavioral Health – Children, Family, and IDD Services, who joined the company on February 12. Jennifer Shumaker, who previously served as Senior Director of Program Operations, will assume her new role as Senior Director of Behavioral Health – Programs Operations, Integrated Care & Adult Services.

Nichols’ background in leading successful children’s initiatives across Wayne County will help to further advance CNS’ mission. Nichols previously served as Chief Clinical Officer at The Children’s Center, and Director of Children’s Initiatives at Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWHIN.)

In her new role, Nichols will provide direct oversight of children, family, and IDD services across CNS’ tri-county service area.

Additionally, in response to CNS Healthcare’s exponential growth over the past several years, a simplified leadership structure for the programs department was also announced, transitioning from two program director positions to two senior director level positions.

As part of the new structure, Shumaker’s Senior Director role has expanded. As Senior Director of Behavioral Health – Programs Operations, Integrated Care & Adult Services, Shumaker will continue her critical role of program operations oversight, as well as leading key initiatives to ensure CNS’ ongoing successful Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) status. She will also provide direct oversight of adult services across CNS’ tri-county service area.
